Storm King Mountain Grade 4

This piece incorporates dramatic dynamic controlled contrasts and interesting combinations of rhythmic passages to enable the achievement of the vividness of an impressionistic solo for two drums. The use of medium soft mallets in the adagio section, hard felt mallets in the allegro section and two pitch changes effectively create the timbres that enhance the sensory impression of this magnificent mountain located in the Hudson Valley of New York State. This is an excellent solo for teaching and developing control and rhythmic precision. It is an ideal solo for contests, auditions, juries, or recitals.
